Here's the problem.  You step in gum while wearing your favorite sandals, pumps or slings - or while walking in your new dress shoes. You know the ones I'm talking about. The ones with the comfortable width that fits so well but took you so long to find.

How to Remove Gum From Your Wide Width Shoes

So now the question is what is the best way to remove it from your new footwear without doing damage to your shoes?

The first step is to scrape the sole of your shoe to get rid of most of the gum. A knife or any other similar object should work well for this.

If the heel or sole still has some of the sticky stuff remaining, you can try using ice.

Place the cube in a plastic bag and rub the bottom of the shoe with the ice until the gum is completely hardened. Once again use the knife to pry off the residue. Now that it's hardened, it should be much easier to clean your footwear.

Here's another tip for our gum problem.

Let's assume you've been out for a walk and return to find the sticky junk on your beautiful wedge heel. Give this a try...

Apply a small amount of solvent to the sole. Be sure to take the necessary safety precautions if needed. You can use cotton or a Q-tip to gently rub the shoe. Once they're clean, then you can follow up with a damp rag to remove any residual cleaning agent on your footwear.

If you're not sure what you should use as a cleaner, you can try WD-40 to blanket the area covered with gum. Then wait a few minutes and follow the above steps to finish the job.  We strongly suggest you test a small area first.
