Five Ways to Extend the Life of Your Shoes

Imagine yourself wearing those beautiful, comfortable, extra wide dress shoes you've just received.

Now wouldn't you love to stretch the life of your new footwear?

Expand their lifetime beyond their normal limits? You would? We thought so.

We are going to show you how to prolong the wear of your favorite foot apparel.
 

• Give your shoes extra time to rest. We suggest that you don't wear them two days in a row.  They need time to thoroughly air out. We would also recommend at least 24 hours between wearing. This gives them a chance to "bounce back" and last longer.

• We've all been caught in the middle of a rain storm at some point when wearing a beautiful pair of casual or evening shoes. (Just ask my sister about her rain-soaked experience.) Allow ample time for your shoes to completely air out. In particular, leather should be given a little extra time to totally dry.

• Some women walk an extended distance from their car to their office building. Try wearing running shoes when walking from the parking lot to your office. Then change into work shoes after arriving at your place of business.  Saves wear on both your shoes and your feet.

• To prevent breaking a heel while driving your car, you can try wearing a pair of wide, comfortable flat shoes and change into your dress shoes when you arrive at your destination.

The use of shoe trees is highly recommended.  I resisted this idea initially.  You'll also discover a considerable improvement in the shape and form of any footwear you choose to use with the shoetree. Consistently using this tool will result in the removal of the majority of the deep, heavy shoe creases, thus improving the look and life of the leather.
